Jane Russell in later life, still a beautiful woman

Another iconic Hollywood Legend has passed away.

Jane Russell died on Monday (28th February 2011), she was 89.  Much remembered and loved as the Brunette in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, along with Marilyn Monroe – who naturally played the ‘Blonde’.  In fact during the making of this movie, the two stars became friends.

Never being fully appreciated at the time for her acting skills, she was a talented comedienne who was better known as the busty sex siren from her days in the The Outlaw film, in which she made her debut.

In Loving Memory of My Dad

3 May

My Dad

2 months ago my dad suddenly passed on.  Despite poor health towards the end, he led an active life as a local Methodist preacher, went to various social groups and had so many hobbies and projects round the house he couldn’t keep up with them!  What I won’t forget about him is his Wonderment of life  and how he was determined all those years ago to build a small business so his family would have a better life.  I miss showing him anything I make now, as he loved the textile toys I created and ate a lot of the dinners and cakes I cooked and baked!  And for someone who was mainly self-schooled he was very interesting to talk with…just wish you had made more time for more conversations.  You are very much missed.  RIP Daddils.

If your parents are still alive, appreciate them…because it’s the people in your life who are the most important – not things.

The Healing Power of Touch…and Stroking Dogs

21 Nov

I came across this article about the healing power of touch when it comes to patting and stroking dogs. How the health benefits of keeping a dog help people with chronic pain reduce their painkillers, and how visits from Patting Dogs at hospitals bring cheer and warmth. This is something so human and deep within us. My own 2 dogs, a Chihuahua and a Jack Russell, are absolutely my best friends; it’s just a shame that dogs don’t have a longer life span.

Craft Swap: A Bag for Trish

20 Oct

Have you seen the cute knitted creatures Trish made in an earlier blog post?  Well, this is my Craft Swap: A Cat Knitting Bag for Trish.

It was such good fun making it.  She wanted bright colours and said she likes cats – – – she does have a real cat called Pickles.

I’ve just now wrapped up the bag ready to post and I’m missing it already.  Won’t publish this blog till Trish receives the Cat bag.
